Food Pantry Manager

About the position

The Food Pantry Manager is responsible for all aspects of the Nourish to Flourish hunger relief efforts.  This includes but is not limited to procurement, distribution (including pick up, receipt, storage, and stocking) to assist community members experiencing food insecurity.  This position is part-time, 20 – 25 hours a week, a minimum of 4 days per week, and reports directly to the Executive Director. 

Responsibilities:

·         Keep complete and detailed records of all food pantry activities.

·         Receive large and small food deliveries, including weekly high-volume deliveries via box truck from the food bank.

·         Pick up food daily deliveries throughout the community.

·         Deliver limited quantity of bagged food to households in need.

·         Lift and carry more than 50 pounds, as well as breakdown pallets used for deliveries.

·         Organize, manage and dispose of cardboard and garbage.

·         Source food from local partners.

·         Organize and maintain inventory.

·         Safely store and rotate fresh and frozen foods.

·         Maintain inventory of pre-packed bags.

·         Ensure an adequate supply of prepacked bags and fresh foods are available for distribution.

·         Stock and maintain the pantry packing area.

·         Monitor and maintain consistent sources of a large volume of reusable grocery bags.

·         Assist with the implementation of a choice pantry, stocking that area with shelf-stable, fresh and frozen food, including meats, eggs, milk and cheese and produce. 

·         Attend daily meetings with the Executive Director to discuss tasks and open projects.

·         Track data on pantry guests.

·         Other duties, as needed.

Qualifications:

·         Ability to work with a diverse range of individuals including staff, volunteers, donors, and pantry guests.

·         Strong time management skills.

·         Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

·         Self-motivated and adaptable as part of a small, growing organization.

·         Driver’s license and clean driving record required. 

·         Must be able to safely lift and carry 50+ pounds.

·         High School diploma required.
